Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI®)

What is the Myers Briggs Type Inventory?

Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®), is a psychometric personality profile, which helps individuals to understand their personality ‘type’ preference and from that and with the support of an Authorised Facilitator provide help for them to develop their personal style and associated behaviours.

The Myers Briggs Type Inventory originated from the work of psychologist Carl Jung. His classic Jungian typology personality model was subsequently been brought to life in the modern day through the work of the mother and daughter team of Katherine Cook-Briggs and Isabel Briggs-Myers; they developed Jung’s work further to create one of the most well-known and trusted personality profiles tools used today.

Using a series of 4 bipolar scales individuals complete a questionnaire to help them identify their personality type preference from one of 16 different types.

Everyone is different and most certainly no better or worse than any other MBTI type. Psychological types are not boxes to put each other in rather they are there to highlight our “preference” or default behaviour, to make us aware of that and to embrace the impact that has on ourselves and others. Understanding and valuing individual differences is a great step forward in improving relationships with others.

The Myers Briggs Type Inventory (MBTI®) demonstrates

  • How we are energised (Extraversion/Introversion)
  • How we take in information (Sensing/iNtuition)
  • How we make decisions (Thinking/Feeling)
  • How we choose to Relate to the world (Judging/Perceiving)

How does Myers Briggs Type Indicator work?

By completing a short questionnaire (which we can provide on line), individuals can understand their personality preferences in a clear and simple framework. Following a feedback session with one of our licensed MBTI consultants they can identify their ‘best fit’ type and have confidence in understanding others’ preferences which can be essential in improving relationships with others.

At Inspirational You we can also facilitate a “learning environment” where we can teach what MBTI® is all about, its values and benefits and introduce people to their personality types.
