Nick Barley

Nick Barley is Vice President, Marketing at Juniper Networks, a $4.6 billion organization that has developed and productized some of the industry’s most groundbreaking, disruptive innovations across every aspect of networking technology.  Juniper regards itself as the challenger brand to Cisco, leading the charge to architecting the new network.

Nick is a thirty-year veteran of the IT industry holding senior management positions within a number of “blue chip” organisations.  Prior to Juniper he was Chief Marketing Officer & Chief Operating Officer for Microsoft; Vice President & Director of Marketing for Oracle UK & Ireland; and Senior Vice President, EMEA Marketing for Computer Associates.

He has held senior sales, marketing and consultancy positions within Bull Information Systems, Digital Equipment Co, Management Science America and Hewlett Packard.

He has also held a number of non-executive roles, most recently at Clarify, The Credible Communications Company and DriveTech, which he exited in the summer of 2009 following a successful trade sale to The A.A.

He runs his own consulting company, twofingers, where recent clients have included Google, Invenias, Navigate, and Bite Communications.

His experience spans UK, European and US markets, both private and not-for-profit.  He has held main board positions at Microsoft, Oracle, CA and Bull Information Systems.

He holds a BA Honours degree in Economics, an MSc in Economic & Regional Planning and is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing.

In his spare time he plays golf and tennis, watches football and spends as much time as he can with his family.
